Penthouse - initially a men’s magazine – was established by Bob Guccione, and combined urban lifestyle articles with soft-core pornographic pics. In the 1990s the magazine evolved into hardcore. Although Guccione is American, Penthouse was founded in 1965 in the United Kingdom. The print magazine has a declining readership. But the amount of online-subscribers is constantly increasing. In July 2009 the Penthouse website ranked among the most visited 4000 websites of the world (Alexa Rank: 3,865).
